General Liability

What it means
Business liability coverage that may help with claims of bodily injury, property damage to others, and certain personal/advertising injuries arising from your operations.
Tennessee example
A customer slips on a wet floor in your Knoxville shop; GL is the coverage landlords and vendors typically ask to see on a certificate.
Why it hits your wallet
Leases and GC contracts often require GL limits before you can start work — it's the 'other people' policy for businesses.

GL does not automatically cover your own property, auto accidents, employee injuries (workers’ comp territory), or professional mistakes (E&O territory). Read exclusions and additional-insured requests carefully.
